General advice on your cavies diet.

Your guinea pig needs to be fed at least twice a day, but no more than 3 times. They MUST have a complete food (gerty guinea pig, supa guinea pig, ect), no matter how natural it may seem to only give them fruit and veg. You can't be sure they are getting a good, balanced diet. The amount depends on the type of food and size of your cavy. The average would be around a good handfull per cavy, per feed. You will need to check that it contains vitamin C because they can't make their own. Lack of it can cause serious illness.

They can also be fed frech fruit and veg to suppliment their diet. They love grass (watch out for bird poo. It can carry a disease, untreatable and fatal to guinea pigs), carrot, apple, cucumber, cabbage, dandelion and celery. Never feed peanuts to a guinea pig as they are very poisonous.

I am planning to put a list of poisonous foods here. If you know of any, please let me know. I will add them when I have enough. Thanks for your help.
